For this activity we had to write what we have been thankful for, for this year. In this short piece of writing we had to make sure it was level 3, had good vocabulary, and we actually had to think about what we were writing. Once we had finished writing in the box we got to decorate the christmas tree, which was really fun!

Te Whare Tapa Wha
We were learning about our four walls, and how to keep them up. The four different walls are physical, spiritual, mental and emotional, and family and social. In those four boxes we had to add in what that subject means to us.
We were using our learning asset Whaiwhakaaroa being a thinker by using images to reflect on what each pou meant to us, and how it makes us strong. Also how it makes me the best me I can be.
I found it hard to find certain images that I needed for my walls, because when I searched something up it wouldn't come up with the exact picture that I needed. But then I thought that I should use the key words instead of one big sentence.
Using onomatopoeia
We were learning to use onomatopoeia, and we had to write a poem about fireworks using onomatopoeia, so then we can have more description in our writing. Onomatopoeia is when you are describing the sound of something, for example POP, BANG.
I found it easy to describe the sounds of fireworks because I have experienced with fireworks before , and it was easy for me to describe the sounds.
I found it hard to think of my ideas quick, because I was focusing more on trying to add onomatopoeia then getting my poem finished.
Next time I could use different onomatopoeia to make it more exciting, and so the sound paints a picture in the reader's head. Next time I could also think of my ideas more quicker, so that I can show Kaiwhakarite.
I was a thinker, because I used onomatopoeia in my writing, and I used it to describe the sounds of the fire works to add more description in my writing. Also to make my piece of writing level three.

Ancient Creature!
I am focusing on being a communicator and being able to share my ideas through writing. I am doing this by using different varieties of sentence starters, but next time I will level up my sentence starters. I also used conjunctions to link my ideas together. In my writing I used similes to make my piece of writing level four, and to paint a picture in my readers head. I also used alliteration and great adjectives in my writing to make my piece of writing level four, although next time I think I could focus more, and change up my sentence starters to make them level four.

Famous New Zealander
I showed kairangahau by using the key words to answer the questions that I needed to find the answer to. Next term I think I can be a better researcher by using the right words like five w's.
I really enjoyed using comix, because I liked all of the different varieties of characters and speech bubbles. I also really liked using comix, because it's a really fun website to use and it's really easy to use.
I showed Kaiwhakarite by completing the task on time, and doing the best that I could. Next term I think I could show Kaiwhakarite by adding more detail to my blog sentence stems.

Then and Now
I was being a communicator by, asking Mrs Leggett what her first job was and how old she was when she started her job, because I was curious what her first job was, and I wanted to know what the jobs were like in the early 1900's.
I think I showed kairangahau by, organising my information clearly, because I made my font big enough so people could read what I wrote, and I said my writing clearly when I was using audio.
I found it challenging to be a researcher and collect the images that I needed, because whenever I searched something up I couldn't find what I needed.
I don't think I was being a self manager because, I didn't managed my time effectively, because I think I toke to long on my blog sentence stems, and recording my audio.

Early arrivals in New Zealand
We were learning to find the history around all of the early arrivals in New Zealand, and I chose an explorer, Captain Cook. To find the history behind this subject we had to research, firstly all of the facts that we discovered we had to write them into our book. We then had to turn all of the facts we researched into a story, we also had to make a title page to describe our writing.
I found it easy to create my title page because it was very easy to find all of the images on google that I needed. I also found it easy to find some of the facts that I needed, it was also easy to write the start of my writing but getting to the end it got harder.
I found it hard to turn all of the facts that I had into a story because at the start I didn't really understand but then I finally understood. I also found it hard to write my title because all of the titles I used didn't make sense but then my teacher Mrs Hall told me.
I really enjoyed learning about Captain Cook because before I started this activity I knew nothing about him but at the end of this activity I learnt lots. I also really enjoyed doing my title page because I loved looking at different fonts, and looking at all of the pictures.
Next time I think I could of added more detail of what New Zealand was first like when Captain Cook discovered it by saying if there were lots of trees or any little homes.
Life in Aotearoa New Zealand
We were learning to create an animal that would make people believe it once existed. The animal that I created is called a Catasour and I created it on slides, to create the animal I used polyline, curve and shapes. Once we had created our own animal we then had to write a detailed description on what the animal is like what it eats and it's habitat.
I found it easy to create my animals body because I really like to use polyline and curve and I think my skills are pretty good but the face was kind of tricky. I also found it easy to choose the name of my animal because It had some features of a cat and some features of a dinosaur, and I just put the name Cat and saur together.
I found it hard to create the face of my Catasour because I found it tricky to put the black circle on top of the white circle for the eye, because the black circle kept on going behind the white circle. I also found it hard to think of a description for the Catasour.
I really enjoyed creating my animals face because I did a cats face and I love to draw them because to me it's nice and easy. I also really enjoyed doing this activity because as soon as Mrs Hall mentioned this activity to us I already knew how I was going to create my animal.
Next time I could of spent less time on creating my animal and added more detail into my description by using better vocabulary. Next time I need to just stick with one colour rather then keep on changing my mind.

Change poem
We were learning about what change is to us. We then had to write our ideas down onto different pieces of paper then we could start our writing on slides. Once we got upto to slides we had to write nine different ideas of what change is to us. When we were writing we had to make sure it made sense and use good vocabulary and make it level three writing.
I found it easy to get ideas because when we had to write our ideas down on different pieces of paper Mrs Hall spread them out on the ground so we could get ideas. I also found it easy to do this poem because for inquiry our focus is change and when I was writing down my ideas I just remembered what I wrote down for my other activities.
I found it hard to make my writing more bigger because whenever I upgraded the size it would hang off the slide, but then I realized I could of just spread out the writing by making the text box bigger. I also found it hard to pick a font because if I picked a fancy font it would make the writing go small and If I chose a bold font it would make the writing go more bigger, but then I finally found the right one.
I really enjoyed doing the background because I used all three of my favourite colours pink, purple and blue and I also decided to make them an ombre effect. I also really enjoyed doing the poem because I haven't done a poem for so long and it was super fun.
Next time I could of looked at my poem and checked my words before I showed the teacher and fixed them up myself. Next time I also need to finish my poem more faster and stop changing the colour of my words.

Where I learn best
We were learning about knowing ourselves as learners and sharing where we do our best learning, and we had to do that piece of learning on slides. On that slide we had to upload an image of where we do our best learning. We also had to write a detailed description of why we learn best in that spot and made sure it made sense, and had to write our name at the bottom.
I found it easy to write about why I learn best in that spot, because I knew exactly what I was going to write. I was thinking about what I was going to write while I was finishing off another activity. I also found it easy to finish the activity because It was nearly the end of the day and I wanted to go home so I pushed through it.
I found it hard to take the picture because people kept on walking in and out of the doorway, so I had to keep retaking the picture but at the end I just quickly took a picture.
I really enjoyed doing this activity because I really like doing small activities on slides because it was fun and easy and I liked changing the fonts up a bit.
Next time I think In the photo I could of had less people in the photo because you couldn't really see the table you could more see people.
